Ethan Allen 1960 Bench Makeover - Old Fashioned Milk Paint

It's always fun when I am able to participate in "The Fab Furniture Flippin Contest" and this month I am at it again. The theme this month is Farmhouse Fun and our marvelous sponsor is "Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co."  The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co has been around for 42 years and is made as close to the old primitive time. This is a product you can feel good about using, since it's biodegradable and no VOCS. To create milk paint, they use milk protein, lime, clay and earth pigments. And just like milk, milk paint will spoil so just make small batches at a time. Their line of products includes 20 color of milk paints, Safepaint that can be used on the walls, Eco-Orchard paint, Extra bond and antique crackle
As a participant in this contest, I received free products, but all the opinions are entirely my own. This post contains sponsored links for Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co.

I chose the Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co color in mustard, the extra bond, and the Daddy Van's unscented beeswax furniture polish. I have a love for golden colors and tend to lean towards the warm yellow. For the first batch, I mixed equal part color and water (8 tablespoon of color and water) and mixed well. I let the mixed paint sit for 15 min and ran it through a strainer. Next I added 4 tablespoons of extra bond into the paint and stirred well.
I was then ready to apply the paint. I had to make 3 separate batches of paint, however only the first batch had the extra bond, whereas the other two batches did not have the extra bond.

As you can see, this bench is going to be easy to paint. However, those spindles are not going to be fun to sand! LOL
After three coats, I am getting some cracking goodness.

Using a hand scraper and sanding block I chipped away at the paint. This product line is excellent, the color works so well in my home and I love the warm tone of OFMP mustard color. This piece turned out great, even after just one coat of wax. I am fond of this product line for a few reason, 1) the paint doesn't have a smell, 2) you can easily mix the colors and no harmful chemicals.

This bench is a great pop of color in my living room and I am elated.

I want to thank Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co. for providing the products for this contest. I also would like to thank the ladies over at the Fab Furniture Flipping Contest ™ for this great challenge. Office Desk Makeover - Americana Inspired

I have been busy these last two weeks working on my office/homeschool room makeover and I had the privilege to participate in "The Fab Furniture Flippin Contest" this month. The theme this month is Americana inspired and CeCe Caldwell's is a fabulous sponsor. I love
CeCe Caldwell's because it is all American made. Their products are eco and health friendly as well. Their mineral paints contains no toxics and they have a fabulous line of chalk and clay paints, enhancements, finishes and stain+finishes. As a participant in this contest, I received free products, but all the opinions are entirely my own. This post contains sponsored links for CeCe Callwell's Paints

They have gorgeous colors, but one paint color spoke to me and I went with California Gold! My finish is a new product called Flat Matte. The flat matte has no gloss.

I've had my desk for over 5 years and couldn't decide what color to paint my desk till now.

This gorgeous color makes my office/homeschool room have a warm feel. I love it! I didn't need to do any prepping or priming, so I went straight to painting. This paint has a great texture and consistency which made this project so easy to do. The paint went on smoothly and dried quickly. It only took two coats. Once the paint dried I sanded the desk and focused heavily distressing the edges. The final step I applied the flat matte. The flat matte went on easily and was very quick drying.

Here is my Americana Inspired desk. The color looks gorgeous against the black, and the warm feel of this color is amazing.

I am enjoying my desk and I am so happy I was able to give it new life. If you love gold warm tones I recommend CeCe Caldwell's California Gold.

I want to thank CeCe Caldwell's Paints for providing their excellent products for this contest. I also would like to thank the ladies over at Fab Furniture Flipping Contest ™ for this amazing challenge.

Dishing It & Digging It Link Party #106

Welcome to the the Dishing It & Digging It Link Party.
Each week we all work to share, comment and enjoy your creativity.  We welcome those awesome projects, fabulous recipes, creative crafts,  your lovely garden  photos, tablescapes and more.   It's been a little cooler this past week.  In fact, I even had to put on a sweater some mornings.   This week, it's heating up again.  Our dishwasher went out 2 weeks ago,  my husband contacted Kitchenaid for a replacement.  They did credit us money back, since the dishwasher was only 3 years old.  The new dishwasher arrived on Thursday...yea!! Now let me turn this over to this week's host.
Hello everyone,  I am so happy to see you.  To recap  my week I shared some more blog makeovers and a tablescape. ................................................................................. A DANDELION DIARY

Children's Chairs Makeover

These days, kids tables and chairs seem to be built with particle board or plastic. I'm not a fan, so when I found this wooden table, I knew I needed the right chairs. I had these metal chairs that were covered in yellow plastic and realized these would be perfect with the table.

These chairs are great to wipe down because of the plastic cover. I could have gone that route, but I probably wouldn't have liked it. I wanted a bold and fun fabric to complement the table. I removed the top pad and seat cushion. Afterwards, I gave the chair frame a good wipe down and spray painted in Krylon primer and paint in white.

I found this fun fabric one day walking through Walmart, and it was on sale for $3.00 for 2 yards. It's such a fun and bold print I couldn't pass it up.  This part is so easy and I forgot to take pictures of the step by step. Just trace around each section and add 1 inch extra. Once the fabric was cut, I stapled the new fabric. Voila! I love how these chairs turned out.

This is such a fun table now and my little one has enjoyed it as well. Remember to link up on my weekly party on Sunday's called Dishing It & Digging It! Have a great week.

Dishing It and Digging It Link Party #105

Each week we all work to share, comment and enjoy your creativity. Now let me turn this over to this week's host.

Rustic & Refined

Hi Everyone! Ok, raise your hands if you're getting the summer heat. Ok, you don't have too, but give me a smile if you are. We have been getting record number of hot days here in Indiana, plus humidity. If you are mature (not old!) enough to remember Phyllis Diller? Then picture her hair on my face. So I have been pinning and pony tailing it like crazy around here.  In the afternoons I have been retreating inside so below shows you a couple of things I worked on.
